Neural Bricks

A speed reader that shows one word at a time, at the character the eye already rests on, and summarises what you are reading. Running at neuralbricks.org.

  • Live neuralbricks.org
  • Front end Vite · React · Tailwind CSS · PWA
  • Summaries generated by a Cloudflare Worker
  • Import PDF and web pages, parsed in the tab
  • Languages English and Spanish

One word centred between two fixation guides, one letter marked.
Illustration: five translucent pages stacked in perspective on black, with a lime green horizontal line cutting through them from left to right.

What it does

Rapid serial visual presentation shows one word at a time in a fixed position, so the eye stops travelling and the reading rate stops being limited by it. Neural Bricks anchors each word on its optimal recognition point: the highlighted character sits still while the word changes around it.

Text arrives from a PDF, from a URL, or from a news feed that is refreshed every four hours. The reader is a web app installed as a PWA, so the library and the reading position survive a reload. Summaries are produced by a Cloudflare Worker behind /api/summarize; document parsing happens in the tab, in a worker, with pdf.js.
